U.P. Diliman Campus
Today I went to U.P. diliman with my brother so I can settle my Advance Placement requirements. (Eww, that sounds so geeky!) I got my first taste of college commuting as well. Interesting, really. I get to ride 3 kinds of transportation. First, we rode a tricycle up to Boni Avenue. The we get on a jeep to reach the Boni MRT station. God, I'm not really used to standing up and swaying most of the time. Before I get to my pit stop, namely Quezon Avenue, I pass like, 5 stations. So then at the Quezon Avenue MRT station, we went down to this 4 flight of stairs and walked farther to the jeepneys. This actually brought amusement, not to mention nostalgia, to my mind as a vision of CSR Makati's own flight of stairs came rushing in my head. Ahh, those stairs... For years I've traversed them in order to attend to my subjects in different classrooms, laboratories, the library to the canteen. Sigh. I wonder when can I step on those stairs once more?
Anyway. So Kuya and I got up front on this jeepney benamed "UP Campus." Cool. I don't know any jeepneys (yet) with "Ateneo" or "La Salle" as their karatulas. Well, like those Ateneans or LaSallites care anyway. (!) We went around the Quezon Memorial Circle or something, until we reached Philtranco. I'm not sure really, but I just saw this establishment "CitiMall." And then...
I saw it. It was like a monument; big and imposing. The words "UNIBERSIDAD NG PILIPINAS - 1908" struck me with awe, much more incredulity. That sign is like, the threshold of my higher learning and the continuous road of knowledge I would soon find myself on. Historic and important were the words I found to describe the sign...
And then I got over it.
We passed by the security, which wasn't much of nuisance. We got off and rode another jeep. This time, I really can't grasp the gravity of the transportation before me. The moment I had laid my foot on the stepper of the infamous "UP-Ikot" jeepney, I knew I have just been baptized as a student of the University of the Philippines, Diliman Campus...(exhale)
I felt so giddy inside. I knew I looked like a fool, judging by my brother who was throwing me annoyed looks. I couldn't help it; it was so damn hard trying to keep my smile off my face. I have envisioned this experience 4 years ago and now, it was coming to life. I just won't let anyone take that away from me. It's another one dream come true. J
